Pine Skirting Boards

Pine skirting boards should only really be chosen if you want the wood effect, and you are on a budget. If you don’t want the wood effect you are better off with mdf skirting boards which are more durable and cheaper. Pine skirting boards need to be molded from only the highest quality pine as dead knots in the wood are very unsightly. If you want the wood grain look but your budget isn’t extremely slim, oak skirting boards are a better option than pine.

Because pine trees are fairly fast growing, the timber used to make pine skirting boards comes from rather skinny trees. Pine trees also have a lot of branches, and branches make knots in wood. So with these two combined it can be very difficult to source high quality pine for the manufacture of skirting boards, and low quality pine results in loads of ugly dead knots.

Our pine is sourced only from sustainable pine plantations.
